Augustus Gloop

This week Oh So Perfect caught up with Kay Augustus from Wales-based chocolate fountain supplier Augustus Gloop to find about more about their product and service…

Augustus Gloop Chocolate fountains are exceptionally versatile, catering for any bride and groom’s requirements and adapting their fountain to suit any sort of function and venue. Quite simply, they will appeal to any body who likes chocolate! The team specialise in chocolate fountain hire, and can cater for any event with anything from as little as 50 to as many as 600 guests, and have previously catered for Welsh International, Ospreys and Lions player Adam Jones’ wedding.

We served all their guests including rugby players from past and present such as Adam Jones, Shane Williams, Alun Wyn Jones, Huw Bennet, Robbin McBride, Ryan Jones, Duncan Jones, Jonathan Thomas and Rob Howley.

Despite their toned physiques they were particularly partial to the donuts dunked in our delicious blend of Belgium chocolate!

Based in Ammanford, South Wales, and now entering the second year of business, chocolate fountain supplier Augustus Gloop are steaming full power ahead in the Welsh Wedding Industry.

Augustus Gloop were recently nominated for the Welsh National Wedding Awards, we did not win the award but were overwhelmed by the fact that we had been nominated and recognised for our services during our first year of trading. Now that we have more clients under our belt we are really hoping to get nominated again this year!

Augustus Gloop is a family-run business, who thoroughly believe that their service and pricing is exceptional above the rest. The company was created by Kay and her husband after their chocolate fountain experience at their own wedding…

I am a HUGE fan of chocolate (who isn’t?) and when my husband and I got married 3 years ago we hired a chocolate fountain for our wedding guests.  It was very expensive and the chocolate tasted like cheap cooking chocolate, it left an awful after taste and the dipping items were not great either.  Our daughter was 20 months old at the time and she didn’t even like it.

In October 2010 Augustus Gloop was born and the company took its first booking within 2 weeks of trading.  Since then they have taken several bookings a week, including those for 2-3 years in advance.  They have just finished thier first wedding season and word of mouth is spreading now as recommendations are coming in thick and fast.

We are often asked where the name came from we wanted to pick a name which was fun, catchy and stood out amongst others. Most people recognise the name from the character Augustus Gloop in ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’, however there is more to it than this.  The word gloop represents the melted chocolate and the word Augustus is actually our surname.
