Peter and Margaret Randall ~ Testimonial

Oh So Honest – Client Testimonial

We are delighted to be able to share this testimonial with you from the parents of the bride at our recent Caerphilly Castle wedding for which we had the pleasure of providing Oh So Supportive – On The Day Coordination.

Dear Samantha,

The smooth running of the Wedding Day was due in no small part to your professionalism, efficient and yet unobtrusive organisation. Eleri and Tim had worked so hard for over a year to get every detail right but your contribution on the day was critical to the very successful coordination and implementation of the range of activities involved. With such a large and impressive event it is difficult for members of the wedding party to manage all the matters needing attention in a detached and dispassionate manner. You provided that cool and caring attention in a relaxed, friendly and approachable manner. Your role was an important contribution to the great joy and happiness we all experienced on the day. It took all the pressure off the family and we were able to enjoy the day without a worry.

The photographs that you took were lovely…they clearly illustrate your flair and artistic ability.

Many many thanks

with kindest regards and best wishes

Margaret and Peter Randall

Lovely Things From Lovely Friends

Diary of a Wedding Planner

As a wedding planner, I’m very lucky to be able to meet and work alongside some very lovely people here in wedding-land. When you work from home, as I do, it can sometimes become rather lonely day to day, compared to working in a busy office with lots of colleagues who don’t mind taking the odd five minutes out of their day for a quick chat while making a cuppa. So when, like me,  you’re lucky enough to meet lovely people in the industry through the weddings you end up working on together, who quite often work from home or on their own as well, it’s quite common to find that friendships quickly form.

This week I received a lovely little late birthday present from one said friend out there in the world of Welsh weddings – the rather marvellous Kelly White of White Crafts, and what a fab gift it is too! Because, when you get to know other suppliers/colleagues/ friends in the wedding industry, you become very appreciative of what those other suppliers/ colleagues/ friends actually do in the wedding industry too! Working together means you come to understand the different trials and tribulations that planning a wedding can bring with it, and how important each person is in making that big day so special. You also come to realise the physical differences in your job… which is probably why Kelly sent me this fabulous thing:

Now, technically this marvellous foam pad is meant for when your down on your knees doing a spot of gardening. However, I often find myself down on my knees at weddings: tidying up table linen, placing petals down the edges of aisles, helping brides with wedding dresses, polishing shoes, and getting on with other general coordination tasks, and my knees sometimes get a little bit sore! So I shall be digging out my tippex and pens and altering this very funny yet very practical little gift to read ‘Keep Calm and Carry On Wedding!’ in preparation for when I’m next down on my knees at a wedding.

Oh So Honest – Client Testimonial

A very kind message from the mother of the groom at our Caerphilly Castle wedding:

Just a note of thanks to you for the amazing day you created for Tim and Eleri. Your ready smile and cheerful manner when executing tasks is a credit to your business. What you promise you deliver in a very efficient way. Your creativity on the spur of the moment, your attitude and eye for detail did not go unnoticed.

Eleri and Tim ~ Key To My Heart (Wales vs. South Africa)

Oh So Perfect – Wedding and Event Portfolio

After proposing in a palace in South Africa, Welsh lovely Eleri Randall married her South African fiancé Tim Satow in a castle in South Wales…

The ceremony was held in Dinas Powys, then guests were transported over to Caerphilly Castle by London bus for a glorious, sunny celebration. Oh So Perfect were thrilled to be involved in the On The Day Coordination of this Autumn wedding.

The seating plan resembled a wishing tree and was decorated with keys and hearts to match the ‘Key To My Heart Theme’

The wedding cake and cupcakes were made by the groom’s cousin and transported all the way from London.

The tables were named after Welsh and South African rugby players in honour of Eleri and Tim’s shared love of rugby and their home countries. Guests were given charity pins from Cancer Research Wales where a donation had been made in lieu of favours.

Guests were lucky enough to enjoy some afternoon sunshine in the grounds of the castle…

Guests were treated to a traditional Welsh Male Voice Choir after the speeches… the acoustics in the great hall were incredible! This was such a lovely surprise for the groom’s guests, most of whom were visiting Wales for the first time…

As ever, Oh So Perfect’s wedding planner Samantha was quick on her feet in the evening creating this beautiful display for the sweetie table using all the discarded bouquets and top table decorations as the room was transformed for the evening.

By the evening, the lighting had changed to match the colour scheme and the atmosphere reflected the remainder of the night’s entertainment…

And finally, as we said goodbye for the evening, Caerphilly Castle glowed in it’s usual picturesque lighting for passers by to look at and dream of their own fairytale wedding in Wales!

Diary of a Weather Girl

Diary of a Wedding Planner
….

When I Facebooked/tweeted earlier this week “Rain, rain go away, come again another day… Just not Saturday, because that’s Eleri and Tim’s wedding day…” I was only being half serious, and when I later informed followers that I’d be performing a series of rain dances in preparation for just a tiny bit of blue sky this weekend, I really wasn’t being serious at all!

20121005-100817.jpg

The weather this week has been absolutely dire – between those sneaky false offerings of blue sky it has simply poured down with rain, not drizzled a bit or been ‘slightly spitting’, really, truly poured, and believe me I’d know, I’ve been caught in it enough times (my leopard print loathers are still drying out!).

So when I crossed my fingers earlier this week and whispered “please, please, please” to the sun gods I really didn’t think there was much hope, but it seems someone up there must have heard my plea because look! Blue sky and big, fat, round sunshine forecast for Saturday surrounded by days and days of rain – hoorah!

20121005-101444.jpg

It seems there may be some magic in talking to the skies after all… or perhaps on this occasion it’s just a lucky weather forecast… either way!

We hope it stays dry for your plans this weekend too!

With love,
Samantha x

Midnight Lovers

This week wedding laws in the UK have changed, allowing couples to marry in England and Wales at any time of day or night.

From the 1st October 2012 this 176-year-old ban on 24 hour marriage was finally lifted, as previously couples were only allowed to marry between the hours of 8am-6pm, but now you can hold your ceremony at, well, any time you fancy really!

So, we’ve been having a bit of fun here at Perfect HQ this evening thinking up some suitable (and novelty!) themes and ideas to compliment these new changes in marriage law…

Las Vegas

Vegas themed weddings have always been fairly popular as fun themes go. Perfect for couples who wish to bring the casino style to their evening, or for Rockabilly lovers and Elvis fans, the Vegas theme always goes down a treat. But, what do you think of when you think of Vegas weddings? The Little White Wedding Chapel of course! Why not hold a midnight marriage in the style of this iconic wedding venue, you could even bring in a vintage car and re-create your own version of the drive-through wedding!

The Owl and The Pussy Cat

OK, we’re not suggesting you turn up at your wedding dressed as this famous pair as such, but remember the rhyme? “They danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon, they danced by the light of the moon.” The perfect poem to compliment a Victorian theme perhaps, or even a literary theme: dot plenty of old-fashioned bound books and candlesticks about your venue, and perhaps even design your colour scheme with the ‘pea-green’ boat in mind. Start the festivities with a hog roast, and don’t forget to pop a ring in poor Piggy-wig’s nose.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

While we’re on the subject of literary treats, this Shakespearean classic lends itself beautifully to the ceremony-by-night wedding. Use fairy lights and plenty of scented candles and tea lights to create a glittering, magical atmosphere, plus you can bring plenty of trees, shrubbery and flowers into your venue to create a forest-like setting. Fill the aisle with flower petals, line with lots of lanterns and keep the lighting low and atmospheric for that true midsummer night feeling. Style with Grecian dresses for the bride and bridesmaids, and perhaps even a flower girl in fairy wings, if she can stay awake that late of course!

The ‘Wedding Breakfast’

You could use the new laws to your advantage and take this traditional meal served after the wedding ceremony to very literal heights! Marry at dawn with the sounds of the dawn chorus behind you, then as the new day’s sun rises in the sky above, treat your guests to a full sit down breakfast meal; with a Champagne and juices reception, perhaps serve some very snazzy breakfast-inspired canapés (“mini-fried-egg, anyone?”) followed by the full-on cooked brekkie, and a wedding cake made of muffins and pastries… you’re guests will be all set for a full day of celebrations to follow.

Wedding Glamping

Tipi’s and yurts are becoming increasingly popular at weddings with a variety of bridal tents now available for married couples to enjoy their first night in together as husband and wife. If you’re planning a more intimate wedding, why not marry at sunset, then as the light fades your guests can enjoy a full taste of ‘wedding glamping’, singing songs around the camp fire as you dance your first dance, and sleeping under the stars on a bed of sheep skin rugs and Bedouin-style blankets.

The Witching Hour

Prefer something a little more alternative? Release your inner goth, don a black wedding dress and marry at 3am… that is traditionally the witching hour don’t you know?

What wedding themes can you think of to take advantage of the new marriage laws in England and Wales? Leave your comments below…
