‘English Wedding Blog’ gives us a mention!

We were absolutely delighted (though a little delayed!) to discover that we had a mention on the English Wedding Blog back in September as one of their featured blogs in their “Best Wedding Blogs: the ones I’m reading” feature.

They loved our beautiful vintage wedding in Laugharne this summer and were inspired by the rich colour scheme chosen by our gorgeous couple Emma and Andy. Click this link to look back at this very pretty wedding in all its glory.

They also included one of our photos – featuring yours truly in amongst my hand-made pompoms.

English Wedding blog was ranked No.8 in UKwed.com’s top 100 Best Wedding Blogs so we’re pretty chuffed to be noticed by them too!

Thank you to Mark Hawkins for taking this fab photo too!

We were so pleased this morning to receive this wonderful, handwritten letter of thanks from the parents of our Laugharne bride, Emma, through our letter box…

Dear Samantha

Thank you so much for making our daughter’s wedding day so perfect. You really made a difference and we were absolutely delighted with everything – from start to finish!
Emma and Andy had a wonderful day. They were thrilled with the vintage styling of the marquee. It was everything they had hoped for – thanks to you. Above all, we all had peace of mind on the day that everything was under control – in your very capable hands.

We look forward to meeting you again soon, for Emma’s twin sister’s wedding planning!

Best wishes, Marilyn and Craig x

And we can’t wait to see them again soon either, when we’ll be helping with Emma’s sister’s wedding next year!

Emma and Andrew ~ Better Together

Oh So Perfect – Wedding and Event Portfolio

On Saturday 4th August 2012 Emma Borland married Andrew Morris in a bunting-filled wedding held at Broadway Country House in Laugharne, South Wales.Oh So Perfect were delighted to be involved in the overall design, set up and on the day coordination of Emma and Andy’s big day…

Oh So Perfect’s wedding coordinator Samantha and her assistant Christina set up the bunting which had been specially designed and created by Emma Bunting for this wedding, based on our wedding styling designs. Here we are setting up the bunting, pompoms and all the little pieces that went together to compliment the wedding theme…

We love being able to show our couples around the marquee before the guests enter for the wedding breakfast. Emma and Andy were over the moon with the overall look they had dreamed of – there were audible gasps of ‘wow’ as they entered for the big reveal!

And the finishing touches…

We used the name of Emma and Andrew’s first dance for the bunting on the top table…

The favours table consisted of jars of jams and chutneys for guests to take home, which had been made by the mother of the groom.

Oh So Perfect and Samantha would like to extend a huge thank you to our set up  assistants Christina and Mark, who did a fantastic job helping make Emma and Andrew’s dream wedding come to life. Also, thank you to Mark for taking such wonderful photos for our blog and portfolio. All photos credited to Mark Hawkins Photography.

It All Comes Together in the End

Here’s a little sneak peak photo of some of our wedding styling from Emma and Andy’s ‘Better Together’ wedding in Laugharne last Saturday (full photos soon to follow!).

This display was thrown together by our wedding planner Samantha late in afternoon at Emma and Andy’s wedding. It wasn’t planned, but as the guests retreated to the bar for coffee and cake after the wedding breakfast, and the staff at the venue began transforming the marquee for the evening reception, Samantha decided that rather than packing up all the odds and ends left over from the various displays around the room which were now being removed (e.g. the cake, favours table and top table), she quickly arranged this pretty little vintage cluttered display at the entrance of the marquee, for guests to oooh and ahh over as they re-entered the room.

Needless to say the bride and groom adored this impromptu little feature display and were delighted to see that the items they had spent so long preparing would be used throughout the evening as well…

Today’s letter is… ‘R’

Diary of a Wedding Planner

We’ve been sent a little sneak-peek taster from Emma Bunting of the bespoke top-table bunting for our Laugharne couple next month. Our couple are having the title of their first dance song printed on the flags of their bunting to match their colour scheme during the wedding breakfast… how cute is that?! I won’t tell you what song it is, that’s a secret for now to keep you (and their guests!) guessing…

With love,
Samantha x

An Evening in Laugharne

Diary of a Wedding Planner

Last night, Mr. Perfect and I enjoyed a little drive down to one of my favourite towns in Wales – Laugharne.

I initially planned the trip to visit Broadway Country House to take some measurements for one of  my weddings there this coming August, but since Mr. Perfect would be joining me for the evening as my assitant, I thought it would be a lovely opportunity for us to stop in Laugharne for an hour or so afterwards.

Admittedly I’d had visions of a glorious evening, eating fish and chips with Mr. P by the estuary, with a full view of the castle and Dylan Thomas’s boat house, and the sun setting in the distance.

It rained.

Typical, a gorgeous week of sunny weather, and tonight is the night it decides to pour.

Oh well, you can’t always have it your way (though we try!) and Mr Perfect and I still had a lovely little evening and a quick stroll along the estuary path. Mr. Perfect is a big fan of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, having studied him during his degree, and had never had the opportunity to visit the boat house and writing shed before, so it was delightful to be able to take him down to these iconic landmarks of Laugharne for a sneaky peek through the windows at the Dylan Thomas display inside.

The writing shed has been set up to look as it would have done whilst Dylan was writing here in his final years, and I must say they’ve done a fantastic job of capturing the atmosphere in that little room. It really does look as though he has just stepped away from his chair. How wonderful to stand here and look over the estuary that inspired him, watching the birds and water currents as Dylan did while he wrote Under Milk Wood.

Have you visited Laugharne lately? Did you see the boathouse?

With love,
Samantha x

Broadway Country House

Diary of a Wedding Planner

This weekend I’ll be visiting the absolutely stunning Broadway Country House, near Laugharne with one of my gorgeous couples, to discuss the finer touches of their wedding theme décor.

Broadway Country House is a family run restored Victorian country house, nestled into 7 acres of grounds. It hosts a beautiful glass conservatory for ceremonies, as well as spacious marquee which offers a blank canvas for your dream wedding reception venue. Situated on the doorstep of the picturesque town of Laugharne (home of the Dylan Thomas boathouse, and the Welsh poet’s final resting place), and boasting views across Carmarthen Bay and beyond to the beaches and cliffs of Devon. Plus, Broadway Country House offer complete exclusivity to their wedding parties – perfect!

I can’t wait to visit Broadway Country House and discuss how we will be making my couple’s dream wedding come to life at this beautiful venue…

With love,
Samantha x
