Muncelle & Jonathan – English Country Cottage

Dunn---001

Muncelle and Jonathan were married on Saturday 25th June in Calverton, Stony Stratford.

The wedding ceremony took place in the village church, just a few minutes walk from the bride and groom’s home where they hosted their afternoon reception in a large PapaKåta! sperry tent set out on the lawn.

The transition between tent and garden was seemsless, as guests enjoyed a gorgeous view out over the valley, and their country garden flower beds and roses bushes slipped gently in at the marquee’s edge.

Flowers adorened the dinner tables, bloomed out over oak barrels and hung from lanterns in the trees courtesy of Electric Daisy Flower Farm, who also supplied the gorgeous blush bouquets.

Dinner was a grand buffet of American vs English cuisine – celebrating Muncelle’s Southern American routes and Jonathan’s English grounding. Guests dined on an assortment of delicious canapes before tucking in to fresh sea food, salads and roasted meats. The food was made fresh in the cottage’s kitchen by local chefs Roger and John at The Fox and Hounds Whittlebury.

For dessert, a delicious three tiered cake by Sweetness & Delight Wedding Cakes caught everyone’s eye as the centrepiece on the dance floor!

Music flowed in abundance starting with the breathtaking sounds of the Polymnia Choir in church, followed by Ariella String Quartet, Trio & Duoplaying a well selected assortment of classic and popular music during the drinks reception. In the evening, guests danced the night away to live jazz band Down for the Count.

Guests travelled from Florida US and Yorkshire England to join the happy couple in a day which was simply divine.

Oh So Perfect worked with Jonathan and Muncelle for a total period of 9 months to fully plan, design and coordinate the full running of this gorgeous wedding, and it truly was a pleasure.

A huge thank you to Sarah Gawler Photography for providing us with these gorgeous photographs which so perfectly capture the details of the day.

Wedding Speech Guru :: Best Man Boot Camp

A nationwide survey* commissioned by Wedding Speech Guru, reveals that Britain could be heading towards a shortage of best men. Almost half of the UK male population – 43% – would consider turning down the opportunity to be best man because they are so nervous about the prospect of making a speech.

And their nerves would seem to be well-founded. Almost three quarters (74%) of the 2,000 people questioned said that speeches can make or break the wedding. And 79% say that they feel sorry for the best man because of the pressure the speech brings…
the wedding speech guru best man boot camp
Nearly six out of ten (56%) said that they have heard embarrassing and inappropriate wedding speeches, over a third (35%) have been to weddings ruined by drunken speeches and a third of 18-34 year olds are ashamed of their wedding speech.
With so many best men getting it wrong, Wedding Speech Guru is organising Best Men Boot Camp – a workshop to help men talk about a bridegroom with truth and humour, rather than embarrass him with cheap jokes.
“What many best men don’t realise is that rather than embarrassing the groom, the main purpose of their speech is to commend their friend to the guests,” said Robin Bayley, author and founder of Wedding Speech Guru. Once wedding guests see that a speech is coming from a place of love and respect, they are much more likely to respond with laughter.
At the boot camp, which is being held in central London on July 16th, the best men will learn how to gather their material, hone it into stories that illustrate the groom’s character, and practise delivery in front of the other best men.
But if best men aren’t willing to step up to the plate, it seems that women are. One in five – 20% – of UK weddings have best women rather than best men. Women are judged to make better, less cringe-worthy speeches, less likely to get drunk and also to steer clear of rude jokes about the bride.
62% of Londoners think that it should be normal for women to make wedding speeches, and 57% said that women are more natural because men try too hard to be funny. Nationally 53% of 24-34 year olds believe that women’s wedding speeches are better than men’s.
*Nationwide survey by Populus, March 2016. 2,000 respondents, aged 18+

Wedding Speech Guru was founded by author, life coach and serial best man, Robin Bayley.

Wedding Speech Guru’s mission is to ensure that speeches honour the bride and groom and come from a place of affection and emotional truth. Alongside group workshops, such as Best Man Boot Camp Wedding Speech Guru provides tailor made, one-to-one speech coaching for anyone making a wedding speech. Robin helped to set up Wedding TV in 2008 and is a registered minister, licensed to conduct weddings in California. He has just been asked to be best man for the sixth time.

Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience – DVD!

Hey, remember that time we were on the TV being all expert and that with comedian Rhod Gilbert? Well…

The Welsh production company behind TV comedy show Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, is launching an online campaign to finally bring more of the BAFTA Cymru award winning series out on DVD.

End of the wedding

Zipline Creative producers Rhys and Nathan, are close to launching a Kickstarter campaign to allow fans to pre-order copies of Series 3 & 4 as a DVD boxset and in an attempt to guarantee its release.

“We’ve always wanted the show to be released on DVD, but unfortunately although we’re the producers, directors, editors, do the camera and the sound with Rhod, the rights are actually owned by a much bigger media company outside of Wales. To cut a long story short, we just haven’t been able to do it.” says Nathan.

“Usually it’s giant corporations releasing these kinds of products, so as a tiny company based in the valleys it’s going to be a real underdog battle to get it off the ground. We hope fans of the show and followers of Mr Gilbert will get involved to help us achieve our goal.”

The critically acclaimed show sees stand up comedian Rhod Gilbert try his hand at an eclectic mix of jobs with hilarious results. Since the first series aired in 2010, Rhod has experienced careers all across Wales, from Bin Man to Fighter Pilot, Zoo Keeper to Mum, Policeman to Drag Artist and more.

BKkDuSxCAAAloWeThe series 3 and 4 DVD will feature arguably some of the best episodes of the comedy show to date. Who can forget Rhod dragging a bunch of Welsh pensioners on a chocolate snorting holiday to Belgium in the Coach Tour Guide show. Or even Scott Williams’ castle and Ella May’s play doh boat from the Teacher episode.

“We’re trusting in the support of our fan base to help us get them the DVD they’ve been craving all these years!” says Rhys Waters, also a producer and director of the show.

“It’s been frustrating because we’ve repeatedly had to tell eager fans ‘we don’t know’ whenever they’ve asked us when they might be able to buy the DVD.”

208939_10151375771428932_41807911_n“Kickstarter felt like the natural choice, as aside from working with the incredibly talented and funny Mr Gilbert, one thing that’s always brilliant about Work Experience is its loyal fans. So we’re creating something that allows fans to become part of the show”, said Rhys. “We can offer a lot more than just a copy of the programmes, they’ll have their names on the DVD, DVD’s and posters signed by Rhod, alongside some genuine props and costumes.”

Some of the goodies that the team hope to offer backers include:

  • Special Kickstarter limited edition design DVD Box sets of series 3&4 with Bonus features SIGNED BY RHOD.
  • An invite to the exclusive screening of 4 selected episodes of Work Experience.
  • Rhod / Rachel’s Wig from the ‘Drag Artist’ Episode.
  • The original Give a S#!t Weddings T-Shirt from the Wedding Planner Episode.
  • Give a S#!t Weddings Car Signage from the Wedding Planner Episode.
  • Rhod’s ‘finger gym’ from the Male Model episode.
  • Rhod’s ‘Rhod Squad Scout’s Camp Badge’ from the Scout Leader episode.
  • One of Rhod’s ‘Edwards Coaches Ties’ from the Coach Tour Guide Episode.
  • A Rhod Signed original limited edition promotional poster for the series.
  • Limited edition collage wall art piece featuring all Patrick Olner’s amazing photographs commissioned for Series 3 & 4.

521334_522797641095370_1219139076_nOn top of this, the team will be trawling the archives for as many extras and deleted scenes as they can cram on the disk. “Since we make the show, we know the footage and original edits really well. This gives us the unique ability to create additional funny scenes and unseen moments for those who want a bit more.” Said Rhys.

Although Rhod himself is not directly involved in the Kickstarter project, he backs Rhys and Nathan’s campaign and wants to see them achieve success. “I could not believe my ears when I heard those crazy dudes Rhys and Nathan were starting this campaign, but my ears were right and they are, so I wish them all the best. I’ll lob in some signed DVD’s or boxsets, and bits of work experience memorabilia for a few dedicated investors too!”

If you think you’d like to get your hands on some of these goodies or just show some moral support keep an eye on the @rhodsworkex twitter feed or follow Zipline Creative on Facebook, or alternatively email info@ziplinecreative.co.uk to get signed up for campaign updates.

“We are offering pledges starting at £1, so there’s an opportunity for all fans to support the project if they want. Hopefully we’ll get enough people behind us, if not then we’ll disappear back behind the cameras never to be seen in public again!” Said Rhys.

“It’s a bit of an all or nothing venture. Either Kickstarter works, and we can cover the rights of the show for release, or it doesn’t and to be honest, we’re not sure what will happen next.” says Nathan.

Jennifer and Andrew ~ French Lavender in the Barn

Jennifer married Andrew in a beautiful ceremony at the Almonry Barn, Langport, Somerset on Friday 4th September 2015.

Guests, who had travelled all the way from Dublin and Australia, were spoiled throughout with a French-inspired, rustic afternoon in the barn, which the bride had styled and created with the help of Oh So Perfect and some wonderful suppliers along the way….

Sprigs of lavender accented glasses of champagne and cloudy lemon at the drinks reception, along with milk bottles filled with chocolate milk and purple straws, all served from vintage glass dispensers. The dining tables were loaded with rustic boards of antipasti as the guests took their seats, and a most glorious menu of beef, salmon and chicken satisfied guests’ appetites, complimented by a soundtrack of live Spanish Guitar and a French-cafe-style playlist.

The lawns were spread with vintage furniture sets and bird baths. Tall flowers stood proudly along the back wall of the ceremony, and throughout the dining tables. Sprigs of lavender tied with ribbon adorned the stationery on tables and the scent of rosemary filled the room from the bouquets.

The central focus of the room came in the form of an antique white dresser and vintage door backdrop, which groaned seductively with pretty china, delicious cakes, chocolate tarts, macarons and sweet kisses to make guests mouth water! Wicker hearts hung in trees in the orchard, birdcages filled with candles dotted each corner, and the bride had framed love quotes and French fancies placed prominently in every nook and cranny the barn had to offer.

The table plan was written by Oh So Perfect’s Samantha, on an antique mirror to match the style set out by the stationery, and guests left love notes and warm wishes on an old typewriter placed by a vintage writing desk.

The bride’s smile shone throughout the day, despite a slip the evening before the wedding rendering her foot bandaged and broken…. She was carried down the aisle by the groomsmen and her father, to the sound of the groom and best man softly singing to their classical guitars!

A most beautiful day, and much thanks to all the suppliers involved in creating something so very perfect. Oh So Perfect were delighted and honoured to assist Jennifer and Andrew with the partial planning, styling, personal support, and on the day coordination of a wedding so very divine… x

“Samantha,

I want to say THANK YOU for all of your help and work you did to make our wedding day absolutely perfect. We couldn’t have done it without you! The thought of planning a wedding overseas was always daunting, and for the past year you have perfectly guided us. Through expert recommendations (I couldn’t have asked for a better or more talented group of vendors), keeping us organized and on track, and coordinating every last detail on the day – you helped ease so much of the burden and stress. The church and the venue all looked stunning, and it was everything I had hoped for and more! You were such a delight to work with!”

Congratulations Charlotte and Nick!

I can not even begin to describe how utterly beautiful yesterday’s Buckinghamshire wedding was – utterly, utterly divine! – and I feel so proud to have been a part of such an exquisite day.

20140706-155150-57110636.jpg
Congratulations to the radiant Charlotte and her new husband Nicholas, such a wonderful pair of people so very in love and so perfectly suited; you both were simply stunning, all day long.

Such an honour, also, to work not just with them these last few weeks but also with their wonderful family. It is always such a joy to work with a family a second time; having previously coordinated sister Kate and Richard’s wedding in West Wales in 2012 (follow this link for the images) we were delighted to be asked to work with this family again, and it has been a pleasure to get to know them all even better and say hello once again to past guests, family members and old faces.

I am so lucky in this job to work with such warm, welcoming families like these, who were overwhelmingly full of gratitude to to have me on board once again – I can not thank them enough for their kind words yesterday both in their speeches and in the quiet words between family moments. I am truly touched, blessed and honoured to have been a part of both of these special occasions.

Yesterday was a very long day, 20 hours coordinating from start to finish, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat for a wedding – and a family – like this one.

The above is just a little taster of images from their day for you to enjoy on this lovely Sunday afternoon, but you can expect much more photos from this wedding and indeed all of the beautiful weddings I have been honoured to coordinate this season in a few weeks to follow.

2014 Wedding Season… ready, steady, oh so go!

We’re oh so excited up at Perfect HQ this afternoon as the sun is shining in through the office window and there’s only two days to go before our first wedding of the 2014 season kicks off – hooray!

www.ohsoperfect.co.uk

We’ve been a little slower starting our season this year compared to last; last Spring saw us with two weddings in April and now gearing up towards our third, but this year we’re starting a little later with our first date in May. That said though, we also squeezed in three glorious winter weddings at the end of 2013 so it doesn’t feel quite as a long a gap between the seasons as the year before last!

Don’t be fooled though lovelies, starting our first wedding of 2014 a little later certainly doesn’t mean that we haven’t had a busy few months at Oh So Perfect this year already. We’ve been at our desks since January working hard on the year ahead, not only changing things within the business and updating our website (we relocated to Buckinghamshire a few months ago, did you hear?) but also writing editorial for Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon magazine, making contact with new suppliers, and of course not to mention the thing we do best – wedding planning!

www.ohsoperfect.co.uk

We’ve been busy working hard with international couples this year, assisting with the full planning of one very big wedding due to take place in July, and a huge family gathering (Oh So Perfect don’t just work on weddings either!) taking place at the end of this month too. We also helped a lovely Welsh couple to source a marquee with our Oh So Helpful as and when wedding planning service and held a few meetings with brides here and there to help them along their wedding planning way. Plus, next month our very own wedding planner Samantha is hanging up her clipboard for a day as she takes on the role of Maid of Honour for her best friend, so we’ve dipped our toes into the glamorous world of organising  hen parties too in recent weeks!

So, with the first big wedding of the year only 2 days away – and oh yes it’s certainly a big one (did someone say 400 guests in a marquee on the Gower peninsula….?)  – we’re busy, busy finalising schedules and plans, updating emails, and preparing our clipboard for the coming event. My fabulous South Wales assistant Anthony is gearing up his clipboard too to assist with organising and overseeing all the events at the marquee on Saturday morning as the suppliers arrive and set up, whilst Samantha will be working closely with the bride at her home helping her and her attendants get ready and arrive at the church on time. This bride has cleverly made the most of our newest package the Oh So Lovely – Bride’s Best Friend to ensure maximum support throughout the morning, afternoon and evening too.

04

Later this afternoon I’ll be taking out the Oh So Oh No! emergency pink kit box and ensuring that it’s once again full to the brim with everything a good wedding planner could possibly need to help with any hiccups on the day… not that there will be any hiccups, this is an Oh So Perfect wedding after all! We’ve already loaded the car with our big white bridal brollies just in case, though with the current weather forecast showing blue sky and sunshine here’s hoping we won’t need them, but better to be prepared!

The 2014 season is about to kick off, and we have weddings taking place through May, June, July and August already on our books, but it’s not too late to add yours to the mix too so if you’d like any help with some Oh So Supportive – On The Day Coordination for your wedding day in England or Wales this year, make sure you get in touch quick to make the most of the wonderful packages and services we have to offer!

Until next time, lovelies….. xx
