We’re Going ‘Under The Vintage Veil’ To Help You…

Oh So Perfect are delighted to announce that we’ll be working alongside the wonderful team at top UK vintage wedding blog Under The Vintage Veil to assist as a wedding industry expert and ‘resident wedding planner’ offering tips and advice for all your wedding problems and dilemmas.

We’ve been big fans and supporters of Under The Vintage Veil for a long time, as both regular readers and sponsors of the blog and having attended the rather swanky 1st Birthday party (#veilbash) back in June (remember all that hype about the headwear?!), so it’s an honour to be working more closely with Sara and her team on this new and exciting project.

Photos snapped by the rather marvellous Sacco&Sacco Photography.

Under The Vintage Veil offer a fab mix of real life vintage-inspired weddings and engagement shoots, creative DIY ideas, opinion posts, and personal experience posts by ‘Bride-To-Be-Now-Married-Lady’ Sara, which are always heartfelt, thoughtful and sometimes just plain entertaining, so go on over and take a look…

We can’t wait to get started answering your questions and offering our advice! If you’d like to know more about what we get up to and life here at Perfect HQ as a wedding planner then visit our own blog category ‘Diary Of A Wedding Planner’ for an in-site into Samantha’s daily wedding planning tasks and adventures.

Under The Vintage Veil – The Official Veilbash Photos

They’re finally here – hooray, hooray! The official photographs from the Under the Vintage Veil ‘veilbash’ are now up online for your viewing pleasure, which after the poor quality snaps I managed myself is fantastic news for those of you who were looking forward to seeing some of the professional pics from the party.

You can see all the full details of the party and the accompanying photos on the Under The Vintage Veil blog now by clicking here.

So, can you spot me and my fabulous piece of floral headwear in amongst the crowd? I appear to have my iPhone in hand in most shots (cringe!) which just shows you I really did try to take as many pics for you lovely followers as possible, but unfortunately my camera phone just couldn’t handle the lighting in the venue…

Here I am attempting to take a snap of myself with the legend that is Sara Doron from Under The Vintage Veil – this photo was so dark on my phone that it never even made it onto the final cut on my blog, but hooray for Jayne Sacco for capturing us anyway – thanks Jayne!

All photos were snapped by the rather marvellous Sacco&Sacco Photography.

#Veilbash Photo-booth

Diary of a Wedding Planner

Following from my previous post Under The Vintage Veil – What a Night! I thought I would share some very fabulous though slightly squiffy photos from the pop up photo booth of myself with Sarah London Photography, Sarah Roberts, and Emma Lucy Photo… well it’s not a real party without a few embarrassing photos is it?

The photo booth was supplied by Retro Me and the individual images have been edited using my iPhone.

Under The Vintage Veil – What a Night!

Diary of a Wedding Planner

So it finally arrived! After all my previous posts leading up to this event, and a lot of excitement on twitter, Sunday 10th June finally arrived and Oh So Perfect partied in style!

#veilbash (as it has most affectionately been labelled) was organised and delivered by the wonderful Sara Doron and team at Under The Vintage Veil to celebrate the blog’s first birthday and successful year as a new and innovative wedding blog focussing on all things vintage-inspired and shabby chic.

The party was held at the rather fabulous Proud Cabaret in Brighton and consisted of a few announcements by Sara, a marvellous catwalk show, sweetie tables, cake (YES!), a pop up photobooth, hair saloon, pamper parlour and plenty of dancing the night away with cocktails in hand!

I met some really wonderful new people and friends who I hope to keep in touch with, and it was a fantastic opportunity to let our hair down and have a giggle with some of the wedding industry’s finest photographers, fashion and accessory designers, beauticians, suppliers and other wedding planners and bloggers.

The bash came with one rule only – this was not a heavy networking event – it was a party and should be treated as such, and it certainly was! But even so, you could see everyone was delighted to put faces to names and find out what everyone gets up to within the industry and in conjunction with the Under the Vintage Veil blog. It certainly highlighted to a lot of people there also just how important Twitter is to businesses, especially in this fast paced industry, as everyone swapped twitter names in place of business cards and asked ‘Do I follow you on Twitter?’

But that’s enough rambling from me, I know you’d like to see some snaps, and a final reveal of that flower headdress I have been going on about for weeks (it was perfect by the way!) so I will leave you now with my pictures of the night. I won’t lie to you, they’re not the greatest photos as I only had my iPhone to hand and the party lighting didn’t leave me much room for creativity, plus I was so busy chatting and dancing that I didn’t take very many in the end, but it will give you a taste of what the night was like. You can also check out the Under the Vintage Veil blog too for more detailed updates of the party and the professional shots that were taken… enjoy!

What I wore…

The Journey to Brighton

Diary of a Wedding Planner

Regular followers of the blog and my Oh So Exclusive – Diary of a Wedding Planner category will know that this weekend is the Under The Vintage Veil bash in Brighton which I’ve been banging on about for the last month, as I pieced together the bits of my outfit ready for this Sunday’s party.

Well here I am, bags packed and on the train heading to Brighton!

My outfit is finally complete and ready to come out and play on Sunday. I decided to adjust my flower headband slightly after it arrived last week, and have since added some more purple flowers to match my colour shoes and some green foliage, making the overall item look more Paloma Faith than Lana Del Rey now, and even more fabulous! It’s certainly an eye-catcher of an accessory, but the dress code is ‘Bright and Bold, Glitz and Glam’ so I think it ticks all the boxes!

I can’t wait to arrive in Brighton – this iconic sea-side town is my second home. My father was born here, and growing up my most cherished memories are of summers and winters spent staying with my Grandparents in Embassy Court (true Brightonians will know all about Embassy Court!)

This weekend I will be staying with my aunt and uncle before I meet the girls on Sunday for the event, and I’m really looking forward to catching up with family in a town which never fails to make me smile.

My favourite thing about Brighton? The fact that it allows you to be anyone you want to be, without challenge or raised eyebrows. Probably a good thing considering my new piece of headwear….!

I’ve not yet had the pleasure of planning a wedding in Brighton, but I hope that one day I may do. Or, perhaps I’ll come across a couple in Wales with a personal link to my favourite city who’d like to bring Brighton into their wedding theme. Either way, I’d welcome any excuse to order a cake from Choccywoccydoodah sometime soon!!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, I can’t wait to bring you the gossip and photos soon!

With love, Samantha x

‘The’ Dress Meets The Accessories…

Diary of a Wedding Planner

Regular readers of the blog and my Oh So Exclusive – Diary of a Wedding Planner will no doubt be well aware that I am currently putting together an outfit for the Under The Vintage Veil first birthday bash in Brighton next weekend… (read my previous ramblings on this here).

This outfit has become quite a feature on the blog! I’m now in serious danger of it becoming quite an anti-climatic reveal when I get to post about the party in two week’s time, but for now I’ll continue playing the game and posting about it’s progress!

Well I am very excited this afternoon to have an update – the outfit is almost complete… This morning the lovely man that is my postman delivered the handbag, shoes and, oh yes, that head dress to Perfect HQ, and I am delighted with the results!

The headdress has come from the wonderful creators at Crown and Glory, who you will know from my previous post, helped redesign and create my perfect floral headband in time for the event. I am very pleased with the result, although I must say it is slightly more on the pink side than I was expecting. However, I have decided that despite it’s current beauty, in order to tie it in just a little bit more with the colour of my shoes, I am going to pop down to Hobbycraft tomorrow morning and purchase just one or two more flowers in a bright purple to add to to the finished piece.

It’s lovely to be able to get dressed up and don a pair of heels for this event. I’m usually found in flats or teeny-tiny heels due to the nature of having to run about and stay standing for long periods of time at my weddings, so I’m relishing the chance to add a little bit more height and glamour to my outfit for the party. There is a little sneak preview of the finished look at the top of this post for you… I can’t wait to wear the finished result next weekend!

With love,
Samantha x

Update on ‘The’ Dress and an Oh So Glorious Crown

Diary of a Wedding Planner

Regular readers may remember that last week I wrote about my search for the perfect dress and accompanying accessories for an event I am attending in Brighton next month: Flower Headbands and ‘The’ Dress

Well my first piece of exciting news this week is that I can now proudly announce that the event is the 1st Birthday Party of the wonderful Under The Vintage Veil wedding blog, which quite frankly all vintage-inspired brides reading this (or even just vintage fans in general!) need to go and check out right now…

The second piece of exciting news is that the dress I ordered online for the event has arrived and is a beauty! I’m normally quite reluctant to buy clothes online, I hate not being able to try something on before I make a purchase, and as I am pear-shaped I quite often flit between sizes and feel the need to take two of each item into the dressing room. I decided to take a risk last week however and bite the bullet – I ordered online. One of my ‘usual’ sizes was actually sold out, which ultimately made deciding on which one to actually buy to try at home a lot easier, and I so I was delighted to find that not only is the dress as pretty as the picture appeared, it also fits – hoorah! Now, I’m keeping the actual dress under wraps for now (just in case!) but you will of course see photos next month when I blog about the event.

So this brings me on to my next piece of exciting news… the flower head dress. As I expressed in my previous post, I am desperate to get my hands on a lovely Lana Del Rey-esque floral crown to wear with said dress for the event, and my desire to find one was slowly turning into an acceptance that I would probably have to get crafty myself.

Well, alas no! I have this week discovered the saviour of all saviours as far as flower head-wear is concerned…

Dear readers, I bring you Crown and Glory. I actually discovered this fabulous little accessory company mentioned on the Rock’n’Roll Bride blog earlier this week and thought I’d take a look at the website where I found this brilliant little button:

You can imagine my delight! A whole section of a website dedicated to purchasing Lana-esque headwear – just what I’ve been looking for!

I found ‘the’ crown to go with ‘the’ dress quite quickly as I already knew I was looking for dusky purple roses, and this one fit the bill. The only problem I found is that my perfect piece is in fact a bandeau, whereas I’m looking for a headband, but I noticed on the website that Crown and Glory also take commissions for bespoke designs and decided to get in touch.

Well I’m so glad I did. Sophie King, owner and creative genius at Crown and Glory got back in touch within the hour, and what a lovely lady she is. Sophie was quick to let me know that she’d be only too happy to turn a bandeau design into a headband, but unfortunately, my chosen piece was sold out (no!) so perhaps I could choose a different one for her to work on for me instead. I emailed back and explained about the event and the dress (yes, she was even lucky enough to see a photo!), and that the purple and roses were exactly what I’d been looking for, and she has kindly agreed to create me my perfect headband from another bandeau which had currently been on loan for a shoot and would be back with her next week. Happy, happy wedding planner!

So, I would just like to say a big thank you to Sophie for being so kind, polite and helpful with my enquiry yesterday afternoon, customer service at it’s absolute best, and now send you all off in the direction of Crown and Glory to go and look at the wonderful headbands, bandeau, clips, combs and fascinators on offer, while I can happily get back to working on wedding planning.

Here’s my pick of some of the other items I’m loving on Crown and Glory…

With love
Samantha x
